Five Ways to Make Vodka Pasta
Penne alla Vodka is one of those pasta dishes I will truly never get tired of making. It’s creamy, comforting, simple enough for a weeknight, and so easy to play around with depending on what you’re in the mood for and what you already have in the kitchen.
Different pasta shapes, a little extra heat, a new topping, or an easy protein add-in can completely change the whole vibe, which is exactly why I keep coming back to it. I’m rounding up all of my vodka sauce recipes in one place: from crispy prosciutto to chili oil, toasty breadcrumbs, garlic confit, and shrimp, there’s a version here for every kind of craving.

1. Spicy Vodka Pasta with Crispy Prosciutto
If you’re in the mood for something creamy, cozy, and a little bit bold, this one delivers. The red pepper flakes bring just enough heat to keep things interesting without overpowering the rich, glossy sauce. The crispy prosciutto takes it over the top—salty, crunchy, and the perfect contrast to every saucy bite.

2. Chili Oil Penne alla Vodka
If you love spice but prefer a deeper, slower kind of heat, this is the one for you. The chili oil gets swirled right into the sauce, adding richness, complexity, and way more flavour than chili flakes alone. I used my Aunt Lily’s homemade chili oil here, but any jar you love will work—it’s cozy, creamy, and such a good twist on a classic.

3. Creamy Vodka Pasta with Toasted Parmesan Breadcrumbs
I intentionally kept the sauce simple for this recipe. It’s creamy, silky, and luxurious with no chili flakes or heat, so it leans a little more family-friendly than the others. The toasted parmesan breadcrumbs are what really take it over the top—they add the perfect crunch against the creamy sauce for texture in every bite, and honestly, you’re going to want to put them on every pasta dish after this.

4. Garlic Confit Pasta alla Vodka
I can pretty much guarantee this plate of pasta will have you weak at the knees. The garlic confit adds so much depth and complexity to a familiar vodka sauce, making it feel richer, softer, and a little more special without taking it in a completely different direction. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to elevate a classic pasta dish into something that feels restaurant-worthy.

5. Spicy Vodka Pasta with Shrimp
This is the vodka pasta I make when I want something creamy and cozy, but with a little more going on. Shrimp isn’t traditional in vodka sauce, but I love adding it here for extra protein, and the flavours really do work incredibly well together. It still gives you that cozy, creamy spicy vodka pasta, just with a little something extra to offer.
