Creamy Lemon Pasta

My favourite pasta dish of all time: it’s summery, bright, luxuriously creamy, and SO SIMPLE to make. It all comes together in 10 minutes.

Creamy Lemon Pasta

Creamy Lemon Pasta (Pasta al Limone)
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Serves 2

  • ½ lb pasta of your choice
  • 1 shallot or ¼ onion minced finely
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • Olive oil
  • 3 knobs of butter
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • Optional red pepper flakes
  • ¾ cup heavy cream not half n half
  • Parmesan for garnish
  • Salt & pepper

  • Boil your water, heavily salt and add pasta of your choice.
  • Make our sauce as the pasta cooks: in a pan over low-medium heat, add some olive oil and 3 knobs of butter. Add in shallots/onion, sautée for 1 min, add garlic and sautée for another min.
  • Add lemon zest, optional red pepper flakes, and the juice of a lemon (or half if you want it less lemon-y). Stir for 30 seconds and add heavy cream.
  • Bring al dente pasta directly into the saucepan along with starchy pasta water. Continue to add pasta water as needed until the sauce all comes together, the pasta finishes cooking and you’re all set!
  • Garnish with lemon slices, parmesan, pepper, more red pepper flakes if you like!
